French culture enthusiasts are invited to travel back to the Belle Époque period as the street parade, Le Bal, will be presented at the Parade Ground of Tai Kwun until next Sunday (May 18).
Inspired by paintings of Renoir and Degas, the complimentary parade showcases magnificent horse-drawn carriages, dancers, stilt walkers, and acrobats in a swirl of lights.
Featured in the French May Arts Festival and commenced last Friday (May 9), Le Bal is produced by Remue Ménage, a world-renowned French company that combines visual arts, circus, dance, and puppetry.
The company's founder and artistic director, Loic Delacroix, has collaborated with prestigious brands such as Hermès and Louis Vuitton, and worked as a professional circus artist, a passion he has nurtured since childhood.
He has created more than 15 productions blending design, circus arts, and street arts since 1996, when he established the company.
The choreographer and co-artistic director of the circus, Veronica Endo, began her career as a classical dancer in Lima, Peru, and has collaborated with renowned institutions including the Paris Opera and the Comédie-Française.
Her collaboration with Delacroix has been instrumental in bringing the company's multidisciplinary creations to life, blending choreography, design, and street arts to engage audiences in public spaces.
In addition, the circus will perform daily from 6pm to 6.30pm and 7.30pm to 8pm, with one exception on Monday (May 12).
