Famous American influencer IShowSpeed’s nine-hour live stream in Hong Kong showcases the city’s vibrancy and local culture to a global audience, tourism secretary Rosanna Law Shuk-pui told Bloomberg.
The 20-year-old YouTuber, with over 39 million subscribers, made a whirlwind tour to the city last month, drawing fans following him to Ocean Park to see giant pandas, ride the tram, and experience villain-hitting, a traditional ritual, in Causeway Bay.
Law said the Hong Kong Tourism Board had initially offered to assist the streamer’s visit, but he preferred his itinerary to be more spontaneous and casual. Still, he was pleased with his stay, the secretary said, citing the organizer of his trip.
“Where else in the world can you do a nine-hour live broadcast without any interference at all, with everybody following,” Law said.
