Police arrested 14 men in connection with Monday night's violent brawl in Tung Chung, involving two major organized crime groups active in the area.
The altercation occurred near Ha Ling Pei on Tung Chung Road at around 10pm on Monday (May 5). When officers arrived, they found bloodstains, burn marks, and shattered glass at the scene, but no suspects remained.
Those detained, aged between 17 and 51, are being held on suspicion of affray.
Among them is a 28-year-old man who sustained injuries during the fight and later sought treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He has been additionally charged with misleading police by providing false information about his wounds.
Sources suggest the brawl stemmed from financial disputes between two groups linked to the Sun Yee On triad.
While there were rumors of Molotov cocktails being used, police confirmed only that glass fragments and signs of burning were found. The investigation is ongoing.
In a follow-up operation on Wednesday (May 7), officers arrested eight more individuals, aged 24 to 66, on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons and Part 1 poisons as part of a crackdown on triad activities in the area.
Police condemned the violence as a blatant challenge to the rule of law, warning that such acts endanger public safety and vowing zero tolerance for triad-related crimes.
