The 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards commenced at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui on Sunday, attracting a plethora of celebrities to participate in the ceremony, which aims to honor the finest locally produced films.
Organized by the Hong Kong Film Awards Association, the event features a selection of 17 Hong Kong films alongside 5 Asian Chinese language films contending for recognition across 19 award categories.
“The Last Dance”, which tells a story of the encounter and partnership during the pandemic between a wedding planner-turned-funeral director and Taoist conservative priest in the funeral business, garnered an impressive total of 18 nominations.
These nominations include categories such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, among others.
The film “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In” follows closely with 14 nominations, securing its position as a strong competitor.
Numerous stars graced the red carpet prior to the event, including Carina Lau Ka-ling, Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Aaron Kwok Fu-shing, Sean Lau Ching-wan, Michelle Wai Sze-nga, Louise Wong Tan-ni and so on.
Additionally, singers Marf Yau, Ian Chan and MC Cheung Tin-fu also participated in the ceremony.
