Hong Kong is taking a bold step forward in nurturing innovation and technology (I&T) talent. China Resources Group and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) have announced the latest chapter of their “Beyond Dreams” initiative: “Beyond Dreams – Global Talent Ignite.” The initiative aims to attract Hong Kong students and professionals currently overseas, encouraging them to return and contribute to the city’s growing I&T ecosystem.
The programme seeks to enhance Hong Kong’s position as a global I&T hub, integrating internationally trained professionals into the city’s fast-growing technology sector. Eligible candidates must currently reside overseas and either hold Hong Kong permanent residency or have lived, worked, or studied in the city for at least three years.
Bringing Global Talent Home
At the launch ceremony on March 28, Mr. Qian Jian, Vice President of CR Enterprise, China Resources Venture, highlighted Hong Kong’s advantages: world-class research facilities, an open and inclusive innovation environment, and strong market potential. More importantly, he emphasized the program’s robust support system, backed by China Resources Group and HKSTP. “This program brings global I&T talent back to Hong Kong, enabling them to pursue entrepreneurship with peace of mind and enjoy a fulfilling life in the city,” he stated. “We believe every returning talent will find their own stage in Hong Kong, where they can realize their aspirations and fulfill their personal value.”
The initiative builds on HKSTP’s ongoing efforts to connect top international talent with Hong Kong’s I&T sector. Ms. Fanny Wong, Head of Talents and Human Resources at HKSTP, described the initiative as a “red carpet” for global talent. “We are committed to attracting top-tier talent to our Science Park companies, enhancing their competitiveness, and driving Hong Kong towards becoming an international hub for I&T,” she said. She also highlighted HKSTP’s proactive outreach efforts, including visits to top universities in the UK. Their Global Internship Program, which collaborates with globally ranked institutions, has already received over 2,700 applications this year, reflecting the strong global interest in Hong Kong’s I&T opportunities.
Strengthening Hong Kong’s Global I&T Network
During a panel discussion at the launch event, industry leaders Wallace Chow, Founder & CEO of FCC Analytics ,and Tony K.F. Yung, Chief Commercial Officer of Advanced Biomedical Instrumentation Centre shared their insights on why global talent is crucial for Hong Kong’s I&T growth.
“Technology is evolving at an unprecedented pace. Bringing back overseas talent allows companies to accelerate research, reduce costs, and improve efficiency,” Chow said.
Yung, on the other hand, underscored Hong Kong’s potential beyond finance. “We want adventurous, entrepreneurial scientists who can transform research into real-world solutions. It’s important to let the world know that Hong Kong is not just a financial hub—it’s also a prime location for I&T innovation,” he said.
With Beyond Dreams – Global Talent Ignite, China Resources Group and HKSTP are creating a dynamic platform for global talent, ensuring Hong Kong remains at the forefront of I&T innovation. Eligible returnees will receive up to HK$10,000 monthly salary or accommodation subsidies for a period of six months to one year, to support their integration into Hong Kong’s I&T sector, enabling them to apply their international knowledge and expertise to further expand Hong Kong’s I&T talent pool, and reinforce the city’s position as a leading global I&T hub.
