Two taxi drivers were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Tai Lam Tunnel early Sunday morning.
The accident occurred around 3 am when the one-tube-two-way operation was in effect at Tai Lam Tunnel.
According to a dashcam video circulating online, the left lane was reserved for vehicles heading to the New Territories, while the right lane was set aside for those traveling to Kowloon. Meanwhile, the middle lane was temporarily closed.
A hybrid taxi driver traveling in the middle lane toward the New Territories reportedly accelerated and swerved into the right lane. As another taxi made its way closer, he could not stop in time, resulting in a head-on collision.
The front ends of both taxis were severely damaged, with the hybrid taxi ending up across the right lane and the other cab stopping in the middle lane.
Both drivers suffered from minor injuries and were brought to Yan Chai Hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, traffic in both directions of the Tai Lam Tunnel were temporarily affected. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
