The Observatory warned that the temperature will continue to drop to 14 degrees on Monday (Mar 17) as a strong northeast monsoon is affecting the coast of southern China.
The weather watchdog issued a strong monsoon signal this morning, noting that winds with mean speeds exceeding 40 kilometers per hour are expected from the north.
It advised individuals planning water sports activities or operations at sea to take special care due to high winds and rough conditions, particularly over offshore waters.
The mercury is expected to rise starting Thursday (Mar 20) as the monsoon moderates in the middle and latter parts of the week.
According to a nine-day weather forecast, the lowest temperature will rise to 18 degrees on Friday (Mar 21) and the temperature difference between day and night could be around 7 degrees.
