A mainland man was arrested on Monday after allegedly harassing a nurse during medical treatment in Mong Kok, following an incident where he was found injured and intoxicated.
At around 5am today, a 35-year-old man from the mainland, surnamed Yang, who holds a two-way permit, was discovered yelling and banging on the door of a traditional Chinese medicine shop at 732 Nathan Road in Mong Kok.
The shop was closed at the time, and his actions set off the shop's security alarm. Staff, monitoring the situation remotely, alerted the police.
Responding officers located Yang approximately 100 meters from the shop, at the intersection of Bute Street and Sai Yeung Choi Street.
He was found semi-conscious with a bleeding head, injured eyes, and suspected knife wounds on his legs. An ambulance transported him to Kwong Wah Hospital for medical attention.
Initially, Yang claimed he was attacked at the location where he was found, leading police to seal off the building and conduct a search for suspects; however, no suspects were located.
While at Kwong Wah Hospital, Yang, who was noted to smell of alcohol, allegedly sexually harassed a 25-year-old female nurse at the emergency room nurse station. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of indecent assault.
As there are currently no eyewitnesses and no weapon was found at the scene, the exact cause of Yang's injuries remains undetermined.
The Mong Kok Police District and the Yau Tsim Police District are continuing to investigate the case.
The Kwong Wah Hospital has expressed deep concern regarding the recent incident and strongly condemns the suspected indecent act committed against one of its staff members, adopting a zero-tolerance policy towards such behavior.
The hospital stated that it is fully cooperating with the police investigation and has reported the incident to the Hospital Authority Head Office through the Advance Incident Reporting System.
Additionally, the hospital has extended sympathy and support to the affected nurse.
