Two siblings screamed for help amidst altercations in Ma On Shan, which prompted neighbors to contact the police and ultimately led to the arrest of their grandmother for child neglect.
Police received a report at around 9.48am on Monday (Feb 24) that a child called out for help from a unit in Lee Wah House, Lee On Estate.
Officers found the siblings, aged 10 and 7, had been left at home alone.
The initial investigation indicated that the siblings have been arguing, with one shouting for help at the window.
Police contacted their grandma to assist with the investigation and later arrested her for suspected child neglect.
According to reports, the siblings were under their grandmother's care while their parents were out at work. However, the grandmother left the unit while the two youngsters were arguing, leading a neighbor to report the incident.
