A parrot known for its frequent calls of "Papa" was reunited with its owner in Fanling after being missing for two days. The owner, surnamed Mak, had distributed posters extensively in his search for the missing bird.
The reunion occurred on Friday morning when a passerby walking near Kat Cheung Crescent in Fanling heard the parrot shouting "Papa." Mistaking the calls for a child crying out unattended, the concerned pedestrian alerted the estate security guard.
Upon investigation by the security guard, it was discovered that the source of the noise was not a child but the parrot perched in a nearby tree.
News of the discovery reached Mak, who promptly arrived at the scene. The parrot was safely retrieved by firefighters, facilitating an emotional reunion.
Mak explained that the parrot, a 10-year-old Amazon parrot, was originally owned by a friend who had emigrated six months ago. Since then, the parrot had been under Mak's care, living on his rooftop.
The incident leading to the parrot's escape occurred two days prior when Mak attempted to move the bird from its cage to his arm. Startled by the noise of a passing motorcycle, the parrot flew away and did not return for two days
The timely discovery of the passerby who heard the parrot's calls significantly aided in the reunion of Mak and his beloved pet.
