Ronald McDonald and Elon Musk are among Hong Kong primary students’ top picks in a campaign launched by Sing Tao News Corporation encouraging Hongkongers to praise others.
At Po Leung Kuk Wong Wing Shu Primary School, a student surnamed Lee expressed his admiration for Ronald McDonald -- the primary mascot for McDonald’s.
“He always offers us burgers and soft drinks,” he said.
Another student, Wong, praised Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, noting that Musk’s contributions benefit humanity through innovations like artificial intelligence and electric vehicles.
Wong declared he plans to buy a Tesla car when he grows up to support Musk.
Meanwhile, student Yeung praised the vice principal of the school, describing her as a gentle person who understands students’ wishes to enjoy their weekends and assigns less homework.
Outside primary schools, some Hongkongers expressed gratitude toward their loved ones.
Hugo thanked his girlfriend Wincy, saying, “[My girlfriend] is beautiful and generous. She pays for our meals when we date and also buys me my favorite things.”
Not only did people praise those close to them, but some also recognized their idols and favorite singers.
“I want to praise my favorite singer Panther Chan, as her songs encouraged me when I was down,” said a Hongkonger named Tse.
Another, Albert, praised his favorite football star Cristiano Ronaldo, citing Ronaldo’s self-discipline as a source of inspiration.
Sing Tao News Corporation will hold an award ceremony for the most commendable students on Saturday, which will be attended by corporation chairman Karson Choi Ka-tsan, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak Mei-kuen, and Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui.
