Health authorities probe confirmed Mpox Case

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) is investigating a confirmed Mpox case involving a 37-year-old man who had high-risk exposure in Hong Kong. 

The patient, who has underlying health conditions, developed vesicles on January 28 and sought medical attention at the Yau Ma Tei Male Social Hygiene Clinic on February 4. 

He is currently in stable condition and will be isolated at Princess Margaret Hospital.

The CHP said that the patient had a history of high-risk exposure during the incubation period. 

However, an initial investigation has found no epidemiological links between him and other confirmed cases in the Special Administrative Region.

The center is continuing its investigation and will report the case to the World Health Organization. 

It urges high-risk groups to get vaccinated against Mpox, also known as Monkeypox, to reduce the risk of infection and maintain good personal hygiene.

Health authorities offer Mpox vaccinations for high-risk groups, including individuals with high-risk sexual practices and healthcare workers caring for Mpox patients, allowing them to receive the vaccine voluntarily.
