Burst water pipe swamped road near Tsing Yi Police Station

A water pipe burst near Tsing Yi Police Station on Wednesday morning, leading to the temporary closure of some lanes on Tsing Yi Heung Sze Wui Road to facilitate the emergency repairs.

The incident happened at around 10.20am and muddy water erupted from the ground on 13 Tsing Yi Heung Sze Wui Road. Police have cordoned off the affected area and rerouted traffic as vehicles wade through the flooded streets.

Due to the accident, part of the pedestrian path from Tsing Yi Rural Committee Road towards Fung Shue Wo Road had to be temporarily closed to facilitate the repair works.

The Water Supplies Department (WSD) announced that the water has now receded. It confirmed the pipe involved was a 300mm diameter salt water supply pipe and the water supply of the relevant pipe was suspended.
