In a recent operation across Tin Shui Wai, Tsing Yi, and Yuen Long, police apprehended two men, both aged 22, on suspicion of murder and wounding, and a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to wound. The suspects range in age from 19 to 27 years.
The police disclosed that a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were provisionally charged yesterday (Jan 25) with one count of murder and one count of wounding, respectively. Additionally, the 20-year-old man also faces charges of driving while disqualified and driving without third-party insurance.
The case is scheduled for a hearing at the Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (Jan 27).
Furthermore, four men, aged between 22 and 26, who were previously arrested have been released on bail pending further investigation. They are required to report back to the police in late February.
The 20-year-old woman remains in custody for further investigation.
The two men who were charged earlier appeared at the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts yesterday morning (Jan 25).
The attack occurred early Wednesday morning near the Hi Yip Factory Building on Hi Yip Street. A 24-year-old man surnamed Chan and his 28-year-old friend, surnamed Cheng, were assaulted by a group of seven to eight assailants.
Chan sustained severe injuries and was later pronounced dead at Pok Oi Hospital despite resuscitation efforts. Cheng, who suffered injuries to his arms and back, was conscious when transported to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment.
