The bakery, located inside a commercial building in Lai Chi Kok, was favored by local celebrities including Grace Wong Kwan-hing, Kaman Kong Ka-man, Joseph Lam Chok, and Sherman Chung Shu-man, who all shared photos online showing them celebrating their precious moments with cakes made by the bakery.
Sharing the shocking discovery on social media platform Threads, a netizen said on Sunday he had witnessed a delivery guy working for the bakery placing customers’ cake orders on the floor when traveling on the MTR.
According to the photos, the cakes in transparent boxes are seen placed directly on the floor, with no thermal bags in sight.
“How can people enjoy their cake if they know it was placed on the floor like this?” The netizen’s caption read.
It is understood that the bakery provides delivery services for its customers for an extra charge of HK$100.
The post quickly went viral on Threads, with many users shocked by the “unhygienic process”.
Netizens were quick to deliver their verdict, “Obviously the shop has no regard for food safety. The cakes are not even in thermal bags!”, “Those cake boards will go directly onto the table, it's disgusting!”
The bakery later replied to the social media post, saying they had already filed a complaint with their third-party delivery services provider, and pledged to prevent reoccurrence of similar incidents in the future.
However, netizens were still unsatisfied with the bakery’s explanation, saying the bakery was still guilty of not providing the delivery guy with adequate packaging for the cakes.
