Tourists and residents visiting Stanley were treated to a show of classic cars worth a small fortune at the charming seaside town on Saturday.
As many as 18 cars ranging from full-on to modern classics from Europe, America and Japan were on display at Stanley Plaza by Car in Life, a Hong Kong-based importer and exporter of classic cars.
The full-on classics included a pale yellow 1964 Ford Thunderbird, an off-cream 1971 Morris Minor 1000, a light white 1961 Ford Anglia, a 1964 Maserati Quattroporte, and a grand prix white 1976 Porsche 9112.7RS.
Among the modern classics was a 2015 silver metallic Morgan Aero 8 and a racing green 2003 Lotus 340R.
Car in Life owner Eason Lin, who was invited by Stanley Plaza to do a one-day display, said the prices of the cars ranged from HK$500,000 to as much as HK$4 million, with the Porsche probably the costliest of them all.
While some of the cars on display belonged to Car in Life, others were brought to the show by aficionados who had acquired them with the help of the company.
Frequent French tourist Pierre told The Standard he was very impressed by the classic collection.
“But I am slightly disappointed there was no model from France,” he said with a laugh.
Lin, however, said that a Citroen was originally in the mix, but the owner was unable to bring the French classic car to the show because of another commitment.
So, till next time, Pierre.
