Increase in scam cases slowing down, says Hong Kong police

Hong Kong has seen the increase in scam cases slow down, the Hong Kong Police Force said on Saturday.

The force said scam cases have become a major global trend in criminal activities, with the number of scam cases in Hong Kong increasing fivefold since 2018, reaching nearly 40,000 cases in 2023. 

However, in the past year, the rate of increase in scam cases has slowed down, with only single-digit growth recorded from January to November.

The police said they hope that by integrating anti-scam messages into daily life, they can remind citizens to steer clear of the fraudsters.
