A man was recorded rushing out onto Ching Hiu Road and diving to the ground on Saturday in Sheung Shui. Fortunately, the driver of a light truck managed to swerve and avoid hitting him.
A 10-second dashcam video circulating online today shows the 43-year-old man in white stepping onto the road and diving to the ground near the Ching Ho Estate at around 4.28 pm yesterday (Jan 11), the light truck driver, reacting swiftly, managed to swerve and avoid a direct collision, though the man sustained hand injuries in the process.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment. It is understood that he allegedly attempted to commit suicide by stepping into traffic.
The video sparked reactions from netizens online, questioning whether the incident was staged or a genuine suicide attempt.
The police were called to the scene to investigate and classified the case as an attempted suicide incident for follow-up.
