The Hospital Authority on Friday arranged the admission of a patient to Tuen Mun Hospital using the cross-border ambulance service. The first since the commencement of a pilot program for direct cross-boundary ambulance transfers between Guangdong Province and Hong Kong.

Sources suggested that the patient is a 67-year-old man suffering from respiratory failure and was transferred from the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital.
It was understood that the patient departed the Shenzhen hospital at 11 am and arrived in the city at noon. He was admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital and is currently in a stable condition.
