The Transport Department (TD) announced on Thursday, following an agreement between the governments of Guangdong and Hong Kong, that the daily quota for processing applications for Northbound Travel for Hong Kong Vehicles has been increased from 400 to 500.
This adjustment, effective from today, is aimed to better accommodate the growing number of both new and renewal applications.
A TD spokesperson clarified that the eligibility criteria, application procedures, and the balloting system for the Scheme will remain unchanged.
Additionally, the streamlined renewal process that was introduced in May 2024 will continue. This process allows eligible applicants to renew their Northbound Travel permissions without the need to participate in a computerized ballot.
For more details, applicants are encouraged to visit the Scheme's official website or the Renewal Application page.
Both the Guangdong and Hong Kong governments are committed to the ongoing monitoring of the Scheme's operations and are maintaining close communication with relevant departments to ensure timely enhancements and adjustments to the Scheme.
