Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu stated that his administration would prioritize the implementation of reforms while adhering to fundamental principles aimed at enhancing the quality of life for citizens in the upcoming year.

In his New Year message uploaded to his Facebook account on Wednesday, the city leader recounted the achievements of the SAR government in 2024 – including the legislation of Article 23, the giant pandas gifted by Beijing, the three runway system commencing operation, etc.
As for the plan for 2025, Lee said the government will embrace reforms and changes in order to strengthen the connection with the mainland market and proactively integrate into the country's overall development strategy.
He noted that the development of the Hong Kong Park of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Co-operation Zone that is set to operate this year will be a milestone to consolidate the city's status as an international innovation and technology center.
Lee further noted that breaking new ground while upholding fundamental principles is also necessary to deepen the city's development.
He said improving people's livelihood and fostering harmonious development in society are always the goals of the government, and it will strive to enhance community well-being through various policies in the coming year.
