The mercury is set to drop to 13 degrees Celsius in Hong Kong this Sunday as the local forecaster said a northeast monsoon affecting southern China will strengthen gradually tonight, with temperatures over the region dropping progressively during the weekend.

The Hong Kong Observatory said the the minimum temperature in the urban areas on Sunday will be around 13 degrees and a few degrees lower in the New Territories, where it will be cold generally. Temperatures on high ground will be significantly lower.
The forecaster added that the wind chill effect will be particularly significant due to high winds.
People are advised to be aware of the change in weather and keep warm especially when engaging in outdoor activities.
