Over 32,000 volunteers were recognized by this year’s Hong Kong Volunteer Award, which was announced on Tuesday, marking a five percent increase compared to last year.

The volunteer recognition scheme was co-organized by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Agency for Volunteer Service and supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, awarding five outstanding volunteers and four exceptional youth volunteers.
Multiple groups, corporations, non-profit organizations, and schools were also acknowledged, while 12 individuals received awards as heroic volunteers.
HKJC was also awarded an Outstanding Corporate Award, Corporate & Non-Commercial Organisation (Volunteer Hours) Top Ten Highest Volunteer Hour, and Corporate & Non-Commercial Organisation (Volunteer Hours) Gold Award in recognition of the achievements of the CARE@hkjc Volunteer Team.
Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Warner Cheuk Wing-hing noted that the government has consistently supported volunteer activities, with various departments establishing over 70 civil servant volunteer teams.
Cheuk added that the government will continue to fund and promote the development of volunteer services, emphasizing that the upcoming National Games will require 12,000 citizens to participate in volunteer work.
Additionally, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Clarence Leung Wang-ching expressed hope that the awards will inspire more young people to become volunteers and engage with their communities.
