This statement was made on Thursday morning following his removal from office.
The State Council of China declared that Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, previously the Permanent Secretary for Housing and Director of Housing, would succeed Yeung as the new head of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
Yeung's announcement came via a Facebook post at 11.36 am, where he thanked the public for their care and reiterated his readiness for the next chapter of his life.
On the evening of December 4, Yeung appeared at the LONGINES International Jockeys Championship award ceremony, where he presented the trophy to champion Mickael Barzalona. Yeung was seen smiling and appeared to be in good spirits during the event.
