New World Development Company Limited (NWD) has announced the appointment of Echo Huang Shaomei as the Chief Executive Officer of the Group. She will continue to serve as Executive Director of NWD and Chief Executive Officer of New World China Land Limited (NWCL).

In her new role, Huang will oversee NWD operations in both Hong Kong and Mainland China and will report directly to Henry Cheng Kar-shun, Chairman of NWD.
Additionally, Gilbert Ho Chi-hang and Edward Lau Fu-keung have been appointed as executive directors.
Huang will be supported by a management team consisting of professionals in designated areas. Operation committees will be established for each of NWD’s businesses in Hong Kong and Mainland China to ensure the smooth execution of business operations and the implementation of management strategies. These committees will report directly to Huang.
Eric Ma Siu-cheung has resigned from his position as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of NWD with immediate effect due to personal reasons.
Huang brings over 20 years of experience in the real estate sector. Before her tenure at the group, she held a senior position at an international consulting firm and was the Managing Director (Southern China) for a Hong Kong-listed property developer, managing property development across the Southern China region. She joined New World China Land Limited as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in October 2015, was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in February 2020, and appointed as Executive Director of NWD in May 2020.
Since joining NWD, Huang has significantly contributed to the advancement of design and construction quality, enhancement of corporate branding, and increase in sales and leasing returns, while also strengthening corporate governance.
Huang has actively expanded the Group’s high-quality land reserves by focusing on core assets in key areas of major first-tier cities, which has ensured continuous performance growth and provided security for the Group’s sustainable future development.
Huang also serves as a member of the Guangdong Province Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (GPCCPPCC) and as the deputy director of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Commission of the GPCCPPCC. She has been honored with the title of “Guangzhou Honorary Citizen”.
Over the years, Huang has provided influential recommendations on China’s urban development, urban planning, and large-scale infrastructure construction. Her extensive experience in the real estate sector and social affairs has equipped her with keen insights into socio-economic variations and the ability to navigate complex situations.
