A man was arrested in Tseung Kwan O on Wednesday for sending indecent videos and intimidating his two former primary school classmates.
On November 8, police received a report from two women claiming they were threatened by an anonymous individual on the social media platform Instagram. According to their report, on November 7, they were added to a chat group by an unknown Instagram account. The account holder sent indecent videos to the victims and expressed intentions to commit illicit acts against them.
Concerned for their safety, the victims blocked the account and contacted the police immediately.
The Tseung Kwan O Police District initiated an investigation following the report.
By around midnight on November 13, the same victims were added to another chat group by an unknown Instagram account. They received another indecent video and were threatened that blocking the account would be futile as the perpetrator claimed he would continue to stalk them daily.
After examining the victims' social media followers, officers identified and arrested a 25-year-old local man surnamed So in Tseung Kwan O on November 20. He was suspected of criminal intimidation and publishing obscene material.
Under police custody, the arrested individual admitted to committing the offenses for amusement and due to sexual impulses.
The victims, both 25-year-old biological sisters who work as nurses, were elementary school classmates with the arrested individual but had not been in contact with him since graduating.
Both victims have Instagram accounts that are publicly accessible.
