October 1 this year marks the 75th anniversary of the National Day. A grand fireworks display themed "The Great Fireworks Dazzling the National Day" will light up Victoria Harbour at 9 pm. The show will last for 23 minutes, featuring 31,888 fireworks.
This year's display will include a total of eight acts, with a drone performance preceding the fireworks for the first time. The drones will form images of pandas and the number "75." The fireworks will commence with a pattern resembling a "red star," followed by designs that include "green bamboo leaves," representing the food preferred by giant pandas. This segment honors the pair of giant pandas recently donated to Hong Kong by the Central Government.
The finale will showcase red fireworks, symbolizing China, and purple fireworks, representing Hong Kong's floral emblem, to signify the conclusion of the display.
The event will be launched from three barges and six small pontoons, totaling nine launch points.
Viewers can enjoy the spectacle from various locations, including Tsim Sha Tsui, Mid-Levels, and Causeway Bay.
The Culture, Sports, and Tourism Bureau is coordinating the performance.
This year's event is sponsored by the Hong Kong Chinese Importers' and Exporters' Association (HKCIEA), with an overall budget of approximately HK$18 million.
HKCIEA President Pui Kwan-kay expressed confidence in the government's crowd management strategies, based on past experiences, to prevent tourists from being stranded. He also encouraged tourists to consider extending their stay in Hong Kong.
Vice President Wan Hang-ping highlighted that the addition of drone performances aims to introduce a fresh and surprising element to delight both citizens and visitors.
