Comparing June - August with May - July, movements in the unemployment rate and underemployment rate in different industry sectors varied, but the magnitudes were generally not large.
The total employment decreased from around 3,708,600 in May - July to 3,708,500 in June - August. Over the same period, the labor force also increased by around 4,400 to 3,830,800.
The number of unemployed persons was 122,300, registering a slight 4,500 increase from the figures recorded in May to July.
Over the same period, the number of underemployed persons stayed unchanged at 47,500.
Looking ahead, Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun Yuk-han said, "The overall labour market should remain tight in the near term alongside the continued economic growth, though the employment situation in some sectors may be under pressure as their businesses continue to face challenges."
