Excitement filled the air at Sha Tin Racecourse as the new horse racing season kicked off on Sunday, with many punters coming in to enjoy the races.

The new horse racing season begun today, with ten races scheduled at Sha Tin Racecourse, including the HKSAR Chief Executive's Cup, which will be the third race of the day.
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu attended the opening ceremony of the racing season and will serve as the presenting guest for the HKSAR Chief Executive's Cup.
Many horse racing enthusiasts arrived early, forming long queues at the venue's entrance to secure their spots.
By morning, over a hundred people were already waiting at the entrance to the public area of the racecourse.
One enthusiastic punter expressed relief that the opening day coincided with calm weather, avoiding the impact of Typhoon Yagi. He shared that he had spent over three hours researching and felt confident in his strategy to bet on dark horses, hoping for a surprise win.
Other punters expressed their excitement about the possibility of a significant win, with one specifically looking to bet on physically appealing horses.
She added that she planned to wager only HK$100 to avoid huge losses, accepting that losses are part of the game and that winning is based on luck.
A senior citizen, visiting the racecourse for the first time, found the live racing experience extremely novel and planned to spend HK$10 to 20, hoping to enjoy the day with friends.
Some students from the mainland, who had previously only watched race clips, attended a live race for the first time. They admitted to having no expectations of winning money but were eager to soak in the new experience.
