A car owner arrived at the open-air parking lot in Mong Tseng Wai, Tin Shui Wai, at approximately 6.36 am today and discovered that his vehicle had been doused with paint. He immediately contacted the police for assistance.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered that a total of 13 sedans had been splashed with paint. The vehicles, including brands such as BYD and Mercedes Benz, sustained damage primarily to their front wheels and bodies.
Authorities have classified the incident as "criminal damage" and have delegated the case to the Yuen Long Police District for further investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made.
One of the affected car owners disclosed that the parking lot is owned by a prominent landowner. He mentioned that he has been parking his car at this location for two years, paying a monthly fee of HK$800, without encountering any prior issues.
However, since August, there have been multiple incidents involving vandalism at the parking lot, including smashed windows and cars being sprayed with mosquito oil. This marks the third occasion where vehicles have been targeted with paint.
Reports suggest that the parking lot may soon be developed into small houses, leading to speculation that the vandalism could be related to disputes over the land's use.
