The weather watchdog announced on Tuesday that they will issue the Standby Signal, No. 1, in the afternoon, with a high chance of issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 as well.
According to the current forecast, Tropical Cyclone Yagi will maintain a distance of over 600 kilometers from Hong Kong and is not expected to have a direct impact on the region today.
The Observatory plans to issue the Standby Signal, No. 1, between 5 pm and 8 pm.
As Yagi gradually approaches the coast of southern China, winds in the region are expected to strengthen later this week.
The weather watchdog also noted that the likelihood of issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is relatively high.
Under the influence of Yagi, weather conditions over the Guangdong coast will deteriorate later this week.
Expect heavy squally showers and rough seas with swells.
Members of the public are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts.
