John Lee urges sectors to embrace Third Plenary Session spirit

Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu urged the sectors to learn and embrace the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The SAR government has held a seminar on promoting the Third Plenary Session spirit today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

In his opening speech, the Hong Kong leader said he was grateful for the central government's support and pointed out the importance of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session to the community. 

He hoped the sectors would make use of the seminar to gain a more profound knowledge of the spirit.

Lee added that the Third Plenary Session has many key details related to Hong Kong, including emphasizing its international finance, aviation, and trading hub status and making Hong Kong a talent hub.

He added that Hong Kong also plays a key role as the super-connector and value-adder that serves as a bridge between the mainland and the world.

Shen Chunyao, vice chairman of the Constitution and Law Committee of the National People's Congress, stated that Hong Kong sectors were often concerned with the 3rd plenum spirit, the country's development, and Hong Kong's role, which he said was glad to see.

In particular, he added that recent years' development and innovation of major policies for safeguarding national security in the SAR were gratifying.

The Secretary of the CPC Leadership Group of the Ministry of Commerce Wang Wentao stated that Hong Kong should continue to make use of its advantages and integrate into the country's reforming and opening up.

He added that Hong Kong plays a unique role in the process and cannot be replaced.
