(Paris 2024) HK stun Spain to reach table tennis mixed doubles semis

Hong Kong table tennis pair Doo Hoi-kem and Wong Chun-ting advanced to the semi-finals at the Paris Olympics after defeating the Spainese duo in the mixed doubles matchup.

Doo and Wong beat Maria Xiao and Robles Alvaro 4-2 (9-11, 11-9, 11-4, 10-12, 11-2, 11-8) in the quarter-final that lasted 50 minutes.

Once trailing 0-4 in the last game of the match, the Hong Kong pair turned pressure into motivation and clinched the game at 11-8 to get themselves into the semis.

Doo and Wong will be facing Kim Kum Yong and Ri Jong Sik on Monday night.
