It was revealed on Tuesday that 630 complaints of dereliction of duty and misconduct in public office were reported to the Complaints Against the Police Office in the first half of the year.
This came as the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) held a joint meeting with the Complaints Against Police Office today.
During the meeting, the police watchdog announced that the office had received 679 complaints in the first five months of the year, a 5-percent decrease compared to the 712 complaints received in the same period the previous year.
Most of the recorded complaints were about dereliction of duty and misconduct in public office, with 93 percent of the complaints being related.
The police watchdog stated that in the first five months they have received 380 complaints of dereliction of duty, which saw a 1 percent decrease compared to the 384 complaints received compared to the same period of the previous year.
While the IPCC had received 250 complaints regarding misconduct in public office, which saw a 14 percent decrease compared to the 291 cases from the previous year,.
However, assault and misuse of official positions complaints saw an increase of 29 and 33 percent respectively, compared to the previous year.
And one of each fabricated evidence and intimidation complaint was recorded by the watchdog.
