The observatory canceled the Amber rainstorm warning after the signal had been hoisted for over four hours on Sunday.
The Amber signal was issued at 7:15 a.m., and the rainfall recorded in Sham Shui Po, Lantau Island, and some New Territories places even exceeded 70 millimeters.
The Amber rainstorm warning remained in force for almost five hours before it was canceled at 12.10 p.m.
The weather watchdog said the thundery showers associated with a trough of low pressure brought more than 40 millimeters of rainfall over most parts of the territory this morning.
It added that there will still be a few showers over the territory in the afternoon and tonight.
According to the latest weather forecast, hot with sunny periods and a few showers will be on Dragon Boat Festival and in the following days.
