Shortly before 1 pm today, a retaining wall covering an area of about 10-by-20 meters suddenly collapsed near Section 8 of the Tsuen Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery, covering multiple tombstones.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and confirmed that no one was trapped beneath the rubble.
The retaining wall was near an ancestral tomb within the location and covered a large area, with part of the sand and gravel crumbling down to the lower levels and affecting other tombs.
The Hong Kong Observatory stated that the trough of low pressure brought along occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms into the Guangdong area, and they issued the Amber Rainstorm Warming at 8.35 am today.
In addition, from 10.45 am to 11.45 am, the highest rainfall of 40 millimeters was recorded in the Tsuen Wan district.
