Jobless man in court for sexually assaulting schoolgirl on bus

A 53-year-old man appeared at Eastern Court on Wednesday after he was arrested for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old schoolgirl on a bus in Wan Chai last week. 

Police first received the report from the girl last Tuesday saying that she was sexually assaulted by a man on a bus around 7 am in Wan Chai when she was traveling to school. 

The man swiftly fled the scene after successfully committing the crime. 

After an in-depth investigation, Wan Chai police arrested a 53-year-old man for indecent assault on Thomson Road around 8 am on Tuesday. 

It is understood that the man is unemployed and has no affiliation with any triad society. He now faces a count of indecent assault. 

Police appealed to citizens to file a report as soon as possible if they witness or encounter any sexual assault on public transport. 

Police also warned that indecent assault is a serious criminal offense, and the maximum penalty carries a 10-year imprisonment upon conviction.
