The new logo uses the "Door Always Open" architecture of the Central Government Offices as a blueprint and is mainly separated into red, green, and blue colors for the convenience of use relating to different events.
Government Information Services (GIS) executive Fletch Chan Wai-wai stated today that once the locals see this logo, they will be aware that the government has sponsored, supported, and participated in the event, which can encourage more citizens to participate and use the relevant services.
He said that by following the "Door Always Open" design concept, he hopes to highlight the government's open-minded attitude.
The semi-three-dimensional and italic design aims to highlight a practical and dynamic government that cooperates with different groups and serves the public.
The executive also said that the flying dragon logo that the government has been using is mainly utilized to promote "Hong Kong as an international city" to the outside world. And this new logo is used for projects in which the government cooperates with different groups.
However, if some large-scale international events have a role in external publicity and the government is involved, both signs will be used.
Chan added that this new logo was designed by the Government Information Services Department, and thus no additional cost is incurred.
