The world’s first and largest Frozen-themed land, World of Frozen, officially opened on November 20 at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
A colorful and joyous welcome ceremony was held yesterday at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort to officially welcome everyone to the kingdom of Arendelle.
The first-ever Frozen-themed land allows visitors to step into the kingdom of Arendelle, which has been faithfully reconstructed from Disney’s blockbuster “Frozen” movie franchise.
World of Frozen celebrates Summer Snow Day, which honors Anna’s heroic act of true love that saved her elder sister Elsa and the kingdom of Arendelle. At the Summer Snow Day celebration, everyone is welcome to explore this fanciful world.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, as they accompanied the major characters of Queen Anna and Elsa to welcome guests to the kingdom of Arendelle.
In his address, D’Amaro expressed his excitement about bringing an immersive experience to visitors. “World of Frozen is an incredibly thoughtful, uniquely Disney destination where storytelling, innovation, and creativity come together to create the ultimate immersive experience that celebrates a global phenomenon.”
The theme park’s opening also marked a significant milestone for The Walt Disney Company, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
A testament to the Walt Disney Company’s rich history of exceptional storytelling is the wildly popular “Frozen” franchise, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month. As one of the most popular Disney franchises in the region, World of Frozen provides the ideal opportunity for visitors to experience the narrative and characters and become a part of the magical kingdom of Arendelle and its story.
World of Frozen, the largest and most spectacular addition to Hong Kong Disneyland since it opened in 2005, offers guests an immersive experience deep within Arendelle.
D’Amaro underscored Disney’s commitment to making investments to elevate the guest experience. “It is exciting to bring all these new worlds to life for our guests as our theme parks grow and evolve with new stories and experiences.”
“As Walt Disney said, ‘Disneyland will never be completed as long as there is imagination left in the world.’ At Disney Experiences, the possibilities are endless,” he added.
With its immersive storytelling, in a way that only Disney can deliver, World of Frozen is a result of the continued close collaboration of The Walt Disney Company and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
“I am thrilled to see how the kingdom of Arendelle in ‘Frozen’ has come to life. Visitors to Hong Kong Disneyland can now physically immerse themselves in scenes once only featured in animation,” Chan said.
He also expressed every confidence that World of Frozen will elevate Hong Kong Disneyland to a new level and draw more visitors to the city.
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort’s managing director, Michael Moriarty, spoke at the opening, saying: “We are thrilled by the tremendous response to World of Frozen and cannot wait for more guests from all around the world to explore this first-of-its-kind experience.”
World of Frozen recreates several iconic movie scenes, immersing visitors in the kingdom of Arendelle. This completely immersive environment is the product of the collaborative efforts of the creative talent at Walt Disney Imagineering. They immersed themselves in the film’s scenes and character backstories over seven years to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to life.
Walking through the land, you’ll be accompanied by well-known tunes on your journey, such as “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and Elsa’s “Let It Go”.
Three brand-new, exciting attractions and experiences will also surprise and delight guests. Enjoy an all-new interactive play experience with Queen Anna and Elsa at Playhouse in the Woods; embark on a fantastic adventure on Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs; and take an adventurous boat ride on Frozen Ever After to Elsa’s Ice Palace.
Make sure to savor delectable Nordic cuisine and collect unique “Frozen” mementos for a truly unforgettable experience that will bring back treasured memories for a lifetime.
