A 27-year-old biker is now in critical condition after he was hit by a van which suddenly cut into his driving lane on Tuen Mun Road Saturday morning.
The crash occurred around 7.32 am today on the Kowloon-bound section of Tuen Mun Road. The biker was traveling in the fast lane on the right but the van on his left suddenly cut into his lane and hit him.
The biker was immediately pushed towards the curb and flipped over into the air before landing, with his helmet sent flying by the collision. His motorcycle then went sliding for some 400 meters before coming to a halt.
Yet, the van didn’t stop after the crash and continued driving.
The biker surnamed Lai collapsed and fell unconscious. He was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital and now remains in critical condition.
Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
It is understood that the driver of the van has turned himself in at the New Territories South Regional Headquarters. The van was later towed away.
