“The rule must be followed and that is candidates must not stand in the elections in the capacity of members of the district care teams. They also must not put the teams’ resources into any election-related events or projects,” Mak said.
“If the members of the care teams will stand in any public election, or become the election agents of candidates, they must suspend their duty in order to avoid misunderstanding.”
Mak said she welcomes any patriots who whole-heartedly want to serve the public and contribute to the society to stand in the election.
She also said the care teams will be deployed to build a communication network to better understand the public’s needs in the communities in the future.
When asked about the government’s emergency allowance following the rare rainstorm that hit the city, Mak said the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau has received some 1,600 applications so far.
Some 1,000 applicants have received the allowance of HK$3,000 already, she also said.
