The Hong Kong Tourism Board announced the cruise ship’s return as the board held a welcome ceremony at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal on Friday.
Kelvin Fung, Royal Caribbean’s managing director of the Hong Kong region, said he has faith in the Hong Kong market and noted the group will be rolling out more cruise lines that make the SAR the homeport in 2025 and 2026.
Royal Caribbean said in May that Spectrum of the Seas will offer eight sailings from Hong Kong starting in December 2024 to places such as Ishigaki and Miyazaki in Japan, Taipei (Keelung), and Nha Trang in Vietnam.
So far, a total of 18 cruise lines have been secured to visit Hong Kong this year, with a total of 166 ship calls, the board said.
“This not only provides visitors with a richer and more diversified range of cruise itineraries and experiences, but also reflects Hong Kong’s readiness to welcome more international cruise ships to the city, thus further consolidating Hong Kong’s position as a cruise hub in Asia,” the board added.
As of today, the 18 cruise lines visiting the city this year include AIDA Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, China Merchant Viking Cruise, Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, and Holland America Line, etc.
