A female security guard at a Tseung Kwan O residence has been suspended from duty after she refused to open the gate for an ambulance on Wednesday, told paramedics to use another entrance, and cursed at residents who urged her to make way for the ambulance.
The incident occurred at Fu Ning Garden in Hang Hau at around 10 pm on Wednesday, according to a netizen who posted the video of the guard swearing at residents on the Facebook page “Home@FuNing.”
“The paramedics asked the guards to open the gate near Tseung Kwan O. The male guard then called the control room and told the paramedics to use the entrance by the roundabout near Hang Hau Village.
“The paramedics then said the traffic by the roundabout was jammed and would delay their rescue. The female guard then requested the paramedics to walk there and said, ' Block 4 is very close.’
“Another resident and I then intervened and requested the guards to open the gate … the guards came out of the control room, and the female guard started cursing at us,” the netizen wrote.
The incident soon drew netizens’ attention, as well as that of Sai Kung district councilor Andrew Chan Yiu-chor.
Chan, on Friday, uploaded the reply from the property management office that said they had already instructed all guards to open the gate for emergency vehicles.
The office also said the female guard’s poor attitude that night would be officially on the record and dealt with internally, apart from a verbal reprimand.
