A bulletin board in a classroom at Chi Lin Buddhist Primary School started smoking around 8 am today, leading the teachers to contact the authorities for assistance.
The firefighters deployed one water jet and a breathing apparatus team to extinguish the fire at around 8.19 am.
During the fire, 66 teachers and students evacuated on their own, and no one was injured.
After the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the fire was caused by the short-circuiting of the electric wiring in the classroom, and no foul play is suspected.
