It was learned that the platform screen doors at Wan Chai Station malfunctioned at around 8 pm and could not be opened.
Some passengers opened the emergency exit doors at the rear of the train on their own, which caused the services between Sheung Wan Station and Quarry Bay Station to be suspended from 8.16 pm.
Point-to-point free shuttle bus services had been provided for the affected passengers by MTR Corp.
The train services gradually resumed after 9.04 pm.
