More doctors, 'patients' arrested over vaccine exemption certs

Police on Thursday morning arrested three more doctors in Yuen Long, Chai Wan, and Tin Shui Wai for allegedly providing exemption certificates for Covid-19 jabs without holding medical consultations.

It is understood that the three doctors arrested are Charlie Yan Kam-sun, Wong Ping-leung, and Amy Lam Ding-yee.

The police operation came one day after the arrest of 76-year-old doctor Tai Kong-shing and his three clinic staff in Yau Ma Tei for allegedly issuing such certificates as well.

Meanwhile, the police force said they have also arrested eight individuals suspected of buying the certificates - with the eight linked to the Yau Ma Tei operation.

Police announced that a total of five doctors, three assistants and 22 patients were arrested this month on charges of "conspiracy to defraud" after tip-offs. The offence carries up to 14 years in jail.

The force also said they do not rule out further arrests.
