A Filipina domestic worker was found unconscious in her employers’ home at Sea View Villa in Sai Kung on Thursday morning. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police said they received the report from the employer at 10.23am this morning, saying that her 48-year-old Filipina domestic worker have lost consciousness in bed.
Police and paramedics responded to the scene and the domestic worker was later pronounced dead on site. Police found nothing suspicious after an initial investigation, pending an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
Meanwhile, paramedics also responded to a Wong Tai Sin home in Rhythm Garden on Choi Hung Road this morning at 9.14am, after receiving reports that a domestic helper in her 20s collapsed inside the apartment.
The helper was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she regained consciousness after resuscitation.
A concern group for domestic helpers in Hong Kong has previously raised concerns over an alarming rise in the number of domestic helpers requiring hospitalization, urging authorities to limit the working hours of live-in domestic helpers to prevent them from being overworked and exploited.
