Man snatches phones from 2 women within 10 minutes on MTR Tsuen Wan Line

A man snatched mobile phones from two female passengers within 10 minutes on the MTR Tsuen Wan Line on Thursday evening, escaping each time by jumping off the train just as doors were closing, police said.

The first incident occurred around 8.23pm on a train near Lai King station. Ten minutes later, a 33-year-old woman surnamed Wong, who was traveling from Kwai Fong to Tsim Sha Tsui, had her iPhone 14 snatched from behind as train doors were closing at Mei Foo station. The suspect jumped off the train and leaped over fare gates to leave the station.

Police believe the same suspect may be responsible for both cases due to similarities in methods and locations. The cases have been combined and classified as robbery, handled by the Sham Shui Po district criminal investigation team.

Police are looking for a man aged about 30 with long hair, wearing a dark blue top and shorts at the time of the incidents. No arrests have been made. Both victims were unhurt.
