An ambulanceman posted on Facebook group Civil Secrets on Monday that a patient who called an ambulance hid Covid-19 symptoms and reported only dizziness.
After the ambulancemen arrived, the patient finally told them that he had a fever, coughing, and sore throat and was too afraid to take a rapid test.
"Three of us had contact with the patient without protective clothing. But fortunately, we had put on N95 masks and put on protective clothing later on."
"(I) really hope citizens do not hide their health conditions when calling the police or ambulance," the post continued. "Ambulancemen are also human beings and have families. Many colleagues even just had babies.
He said the same applies to those who go to hospitals or clinics to seek medical treatments: "Doctors, nurses, and health care assistants are all human beings and have families. Please help share the post with others around you."
The post went viral online, and many criticized some patients for being selfish: "We all have families; we should have a sense of public morality and think about others."
"Reporting the truth about your medical condition is not only a moral issue but also enables ambulancemen and medical staff to provide the most appropriate and effective care to the sick and injured," one said.
"How can we have enough ambulances if you made medical workers all infected," another added. "You will understand how anxious it is to wait for one when you or your loved ones need it.
