A Chinese restaurant staff member pushes a cart of rapid antigen test kits instead of dim sum, according to a picture circulating online.
The new business venture comes amid Hong Kong’s sweeping fifth wave, with citizens sweeping rapid tests and medicines off the shelves of pharmacies.
The image, posted to a Facebook group, shows a uniformed server pushing a cart, normally laden with dim sum, with a box of rapid antigen test kits. On the box is a label saying “Rapid antigen tests HK$50 each”.
“Lady, one serving of Covid tests, please!” a netizen jokingly said.
“They should sell masks and alcohol,” another said.
The restaurant was later identified to be under the Fulum Group.
According to a spokesman for the caterer, employees have been provided with testing kits to ensure their well-being and the smooth operation of the restaurants.
As there are more than enough kits for staff, some are offered to customers in order to ease supply woes.
